Workshop Description:
This workshop will be a collective group coming together to understand how to file taxes as an artist/talent. Deborah Wiley, a retired CPA, will present her knowledge on how to file being a creative. She opened her own company doing this for people and recently retired. The workshop will be two hours long and will include the planned curriculum and a Q&A portion.

Instructor Bio:
Deborah Wiley moved to Austin in 1976 from Louisville for Grad school at the University of Texas to receive her MBA. She lived in Houston from 1978 to 1984 and in Austin in 1987. While in Houston, She obtained a Series 7 license and worked as a stockbroker. Although she learned valuable skills, she needed something else. Upon returning to Austin,  Deb started working independently and did production accounting for a production company. She took on more and more clients and started preparing taxes in the mid-1990s. Her business partner was Vicki Faust, and they started the TaxTrailer.., the first company to work out of an airstream. Deb became the sole owner; the company grew with a solid base of Austin creatives. She sold the company and finally departed in 2021. In many ways, she is considered retired.
Currently, Deb is the Treasurer on 2 Boards and volunteers with VITA, the IRS tax service for low-income people. And she does taxes for friends and family.
She is passionate about financial literacy.
She has two grown daughters.. both editors (word).
